We spend a fair bit of time in Mexico where sugary soda is omnipresent and it strikes you how common obesity is, particularly among the poor. In fact, Mexico’s rates of obesity and diabetes (Both closely linked) map pretty closely to what we experience here in the U.S., where we have a significant challenge with both. 90% of youth in Baja report drinking at least one soft drink (Soda) daily, and I recall seeing a village woman nursing her baby with a coca cola in the village market in Guanajuato. And diabetes results in 14% of all deaths there (As opposed to 3% here.)
