Jam made from the Royal Blenheim variety of apricots is super tasty. Royal Blenheims are no longer grown commercially – the fruit did not travel well and supermarkets did not want to stock apricots that might show some discoloration or bruising – so you can only access them where someone has a tree. We planted a sapling about four years ago and the tree fruited for the first time this Juine. I made a couple of dozen jars of am, simply pitting the apricots and adding sugar (No pectin.); the result was fantastically tasty preserve.
